Ramsey Nickell got his start in the film business during the glory days of music videos. He quickly worked his way up the ranks in the lighting department. As a gaffer, he had the incredibly good fortune to work with some of the emerging visionaries of contemporary cinema, including Directors of Photography Larry Fong, Bill Pope, Dan Mindel, John Matheison and Director/DP Samuel Bayer. Ramsey contributed to more than 50 music videos with Sam Bayer, beginning with Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit".

As Director of Photography, Ramsey has filmed hundreds of commercials and music videos for a wide variety of clients including American Express, Chevrolet, Budweiser, Verizon, Nike, Motorola, Metallica, Sheryl Crow, Green Day, Shania Twain, Weezer and Willie Nelson.

Ramsey lives in Durango, Colorado with his wife, Sonja, and their son, Streater.
